One common perception I have encountered is that reading a first post at an online review site is an inadequate judge of the business. To shed more light on this issue, we at Find My Buzz looked at reviews from salons, hotels, spas and restaurants. Check it out and let us know what you think!

Bummer! Find My Buzz couldn’t find any activities for your business. We at FMB think it’s pretty important to have an online presence and here are a couple of simple steps that don’t involve having or making a website. Make sure the big review sites (Citysearch, Yelp, Google, etc.) know your business exists and claim your profile page.

  1. One tool that we like to use is Universal Business Listing. Universal Business Listing takes your business name and ZIP code, and checks to see if the top sites have a profile page for you and helps you claim your profile page. When you claim your business page, you can update information, add pictures and numbers to make sure your customers can find you online. You can find a tutorial of how to claim your business on Google Places here.

  2. Start generating content yourself. The most visible sites are often the most accessible. Two of the most popular sites are also pretty easy to use. We’ve linked some tutorials you can use to start using Facebook and Twitter for your business.
  3. Let your customers know where they can find you online.

Do you have a storefront where you interact with customers? Perfect place to have one of these nifty signs:

Easy and cheap way to let your customers know you're online!

These also work in pamphlet form, or any print media that your customers see.

After trying a couple of these, come back and try generating a FMB report and see if your efforts are successful.
